Introduction
The Confederation of British Metalforming (CBM) is the leading trade association for the UK’s metal manufacturing sector, representing over 200 companies across a dynamic, innovative and economically critical industry.
Our members span global original equipment manufacturers, like JLR, to suppliers in tiers 1, 2 and 3, as well as highly skilled SMEs in sheet metal, pressing, cold formed products, forging and fastener production.
These businesses are the lifeblood of UK industry and are responsible for making parts that save lives, power homes, drive modern day transport solutions and ensure our latest technology devices work.

The CBM currently represents a part of industry that is responsible for over 70,000 jobs and generates an impressive £27bn in sales, with many of our members significantly contributing to the UK’s international trade reach and sales.
It is one of our key roles to be a respected and proactive voice for our businesses and their management teams, ensuring they have a strong voice when it comes to lobbying government and influencing policies critical to our sector.
This is achieved by fostering strong relationships with policymakers and ensuring the interests of our supply chain are represented at every level of decision-making.
We represent member concerns by delivering practical solutions to issues ranging from sanctions and tariffs to sustainability initiatives like the EU and UK Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. Everything we advocate is designed to reduce administrative burdens and ensure a level playing field for our members.
With a growing media profile and plans for a London office, the CBM is intensifying its efforts to amplify the voices of our members, ensuring British manufacturers receive the recognition they deserve for the role they play in job and wealth creation and in products that touch every part of our lives.
