CBM President Stephen Morley Speaks on ITV News Central About Supporting Manufacturers Affected by JLR Disruptions

Oct 16, 2025 | CBM

CBM President Stephen Morley appeared on ITV News Central on Wednesday 8 October, discussing how the Confederation of British Metalforming (CBM) is helping manufacturers across the West Midlands respond to the recent production challenges at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).

In the segment, Stephen highlighted how JLR’s temporary production pauses and wider supply chain issues have had a ripple effect across the region’s manufacturing base. Many CBM members supply components directly or indirectly to JLR, meaning even short-term disruptions can have a significant financial and operational impact.

Speaking to ITV, Stephen explained how CBM has been working closely with affected firms to provide support, advice, and representation. “Our members are incredibly resilient, but the pressures on cashflow and capacity planning are very real,” he said. “We’re liaising with JLR, local authorities, and government departments to ensure suppliers have the right information, assistance, and opportunities to recover quickly once production restarts.”

The piece also focused on the strength and adaptability of the Midlands manufacturing sector. Despite current challenges, many companies are using this time to upskill staff, diversify their customer base, and invest in new technology to futureproof their businesses.

CBM continues to act as a voice for UK metalforming, forging, and fastener manufacturers—ensuring policymakers and major OEMs understand the value and vulnerability of the UK’s industrial supply chain.
