CBM fastener sector to tour AMRC Factory 2050

Posted on: August 2nd, 2019 by PhilM

CBM is very pleased to announce that its next Fastener Sector Meeting will be held at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, University of Sheffield, and will include a very special opportunity to tour AMRC’s Factory 2050.

“F2050” truly is a state-of-the-art facility, dedicated to collaborative research into reconfigurable digitally-assisted assembly, component manufacturing and machining technologies.  Here, AMRC’s Integrated Manufacturing Group works on robotics and automation, integrated large volume metrology, digitally assisted assembly and manufacturing informatics. Stars of the show include a Titan heavy-duty 6-axis robot working and an onmiMove Automated Guided Vehicle. There are insights into effective capture and use of data, even from older generation machines; digitalisation and the practical application of Industry 4.0 technologies; human-machine collaboration and exciting and practical applications of virtual reality. It’s definitely a factory of the future – but skilfully linked to the present to map out achievable and viable routes of progression.

Fastener sector and related associate members should reserve their places by email melinda.jean@thecbm.co.uk
