Possible effects on the forging industry from the EU Safeguard Measures

The Euroforge have looked into possible effects on the forging industry from the EU Safeguard Measures. The relevant tariff quota for the forging industry can be watched at the following link on a daily basis: EU Safeguarding.

According to the report about 39.000 tons of the 728.270 tons have been imported. Another 3.100 tons are allocated. Looking at the working days since the start of the Safeguard Measures until 3 February 2019, when the measures run out, the contingent will probably not be exploited (the protection would only lead to about 381.000 tons). It has to be considered, though, that this is holyday time and the average order volume might rise after the summer break.

If the quota is reached we would expect higher steel prices on the affected products (also in the link) due to tariffs and reactions from the European suppliers.
