UK new car registrations in October were down -6.7% at 143,251 units according to SMMT data.
Sales to fleet buyers remained almost unchanged year on year but sales to private buyers fell -13.2% and to business buyers by -30.3%.
Petrol car registrations accounted for 60.1% of the market. Diesel car share fell to 24.2% from 31.5% same month 2018. Alternative Fuel Vehicles took a 9.9% share with 14,231 units. Battery Electric Vehicle registrations more than doubled to a 2.2% share. PHEVs held a similar share and HEV 5.5%.
UK new van registrations were down -11.0% in October. Larger van registrations declined by -19.2%, while demand rose for small (+2.0%) and mid-size (+31.0%) vans.
