The CBM Fastener Sector held its first 2020 Sector Meeting via video-conferencing on 16th April, focusing on support for businesses during the Covid-19 crisis and sharing best practice on returning to work safely.
The well attended meeting explored how CBM was working closely with the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, as well as other major manufacturing industry bodies, such as Make UK, SMMT and the CBI. The latest information on UK Government support for businesses during the Covid-19 crisis was reviewed by CBM President, Steve Morley, and CEO, Geraldine Bolton. There was an update on the development of Dudley College’s Institute of Technology project, from Georgina Barnard, Managing Director, Black Country & Marches Institute of Technology, followed by discussion on the potential for developing fastener industry training. Finally, the meeting discussed issues of returning to work safely, and shared best practice on this critical issue.
Slides and notes from the 16th April meeting are available under the Fastener section in the Members’ area of this website.
Attendees agreed that the meeting was valuable and should be held on a weekly basis for the meantime. The next meeting will, therefore, be on Thursday 23 April at 10:30am. Fastener sector members should have received an invitation already – if not please contact Louise Campbell at the CBM.
