The CBM is actively lobbying government and energy providers to help secure more competitive pricing for its members.

Working with specialists like Greenfield Energy Group, we can support companies to find the best deal for their businesses whether they are forging, forming or involved in sheet metal work.

A large part of our focus is also on exploring new greener forms of energy and how we can ensure management teams have access to innovations that will ensure they become more sustainable as well as save them money.

Climate Change Agreement

One of the biggest achievements in the CBM’s history has been our Climate Change Agreement service, which, to date, has saved members £100m on their climate change levy tax applied to all gas and electricity bills.

A specialist team is in place to walk companies through the process, handholding them so that they can achieve the biggest possible return – in the case of most metalformers this is a 100% rebate.

All members have to do is declare they are willing to work towards environment improvements and they can get money back on costs associated with drop forging, stamping, punching, precision bending, heat treatment and metal processing.

By way of additional updates to the scheme, the Confederation of British Metalforming is helping to shape the eligibility process for the next Climate Change Agreement and is working with the Environment Agency to establish new additional criteria.

Companies, yet to sign-up, have until August 31^st to be eligible for the next CCA, which will run from January 2026 to January 2033.
